Purpose

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned buildings, including public spaces and restrooms. Works in a large area, often with teams or on special assignments. Ensures the curb appeal and cleanliness of academic buildings, keeping premises orderly and well‑maintained.

Responsibilities
  • General Cleaning – Quality‑Works according to established procedures using prescribed equipment. Maintains work schedule as assigned and willingly accepts work assignments. Overtime available before and after shift, on weekends, holidays, and emergencies.
  • Follow work rules outlined in employee orientations and relevant policies. Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform policy. Be dependable, arrive on time, work well with others or independently. Accept work assignments, supervision, avoid formal discipline during evaluation period, demonstrate job knowledge, attend scheduled training, follow all provided guidelines.
  • Safety – Ensure no lost‑time injuries due to unsafe practices or failure to follow procedures. Regularly use PPE, safety shoes, and safety equipment. Perform all tasks within established safety guidelines. Report unsafe conditions timely.
  • Security – Secure buildings and rooms on schedule or after cleaning when appropriate. Follow correct unlocking, locking, alarm, key‑control/access‑card procedures. Carry UT  all times during work hours.
  • Perform Work Orders – Provide on‑duty cleaning and event support. Set up table linens and other items for special events.
  • Respond to Emergencies – Clean up after emergencies such as floods.
  • Perform Overtime – Mandatory overtime may be required with little or no advance notice.
  • Substitute – Fill in for absent co‑workers as requested.
  • Other related duties as assigned: emergency cleaning, report repairs, work events, service vehicles.
Required Qualifications

Six months of experience in custodial maintenance work.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • More than one year of custodial experience.
Driving Required

This job requires a class “C” operator’s driver’s license. The applicant must provide a current three‑year driving record from the state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a resident. Employees required to hold a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing.

Salary

$37,440
