The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state.
Responsibilities- Performs highly complex (senior-level) custodial work and cleans residents’ homes, bedrooms, office spaces, medical and activity areas, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards.
- Conducts inspections of buildings and equipment; manages cleaning supplies and equipment inventory; provides backup support to other custodians as needed.
- Supports the custodial manager in overseeing and planning general custodial functions and keeps accurate records of custodial activities.
- Analyzes current custodial operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness; ensures proper maintenance of buildings and cleaning equipment.
- Acts as lead to other custodians and backs up the Custodial Manager in times of absence; collaborates with custodial staff to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Assists in assigning tasks, creating schedules, and organizing training sessions for custodial staff.
- Maintains inventory records, tracks usage, and initiates reorders; ensures supplies are stored properly and discrepancies are reported.
- Documents cleaning schedules, maintenance tasks, incidents, and issues; participates in disaster response and Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities as needed.
- Attend work regularly with possible shift variations, overtime, or on-call duties as required.
- Clean various facility areas including living areas, residents’ rooms, offices, medical and activity areas, corridors, and restrooms; use cleaning agents to prevent infections.
- Handle biohazardous materials, disinfect equipment, and clean sensitive areas; conduct regular inspections of areas and equipment for safety and cleanliness.
- Track cleaning supplies and equipment; monitor stock levels and initiate reorders; maintain proper storage and records.
- Provide leadership to custodial staff and coordinate with the Custodial Manager on workload, priorities, and scheduling.
- Recordkeeping of custodial activities; document maintenance tasks, repairs, and equipment checks.
- Analyze custodial operations, workflow, and resource allocation; implement preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs or upgrades as needed.

Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date to drive a state vehicle. Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure. Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.
