Facilities Assistant
The Facilities Assistant supports the daily maintenance, repair, and overall appearance of the NYOS Charter School campus to help provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position assists with routine maintenance tasks, campus setups, grounds upkeep, and other facility-related projects while working collaboratively with the Facilities team.
Responsibilities and Duties- Work with facilities manager to establish maintenance priorities and procure materials to complete them
- Provide regular updates to the facilities manager regarding status of projects
- Respond to maintenance emergencies as appropriate; including after hours and overtime
- Assist with general property maintenance tasks
- Respond to regular non-emergency maintenance work orders
- Maintain grounds
- Special event set-up and break-down
- Help maintain ventilation, heating, and air conditioning systems used in school facilities
- Must have knowledge of and know how to use basic hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, pliers and paintbrushes, saw, and power tools
- Minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and appliance repair experience
- Painting of interior walls, drywall repair, move, repair and assemble miscellaneous office equipment and furniture
- Must adhere to ethical and legal standards and model behavior that is professional and responsible
- Must have a dependable vehicle with valid driver’s license
- Experience with computers, email, online ordering, certain computer software applications

Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. - Handling:
Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. - Must have sufficient physical strength to independently and repeatedly lift, move and carry objects weighing over 50lbs.
- Work is typically performed standing and walking; however, bending, stooping, reaching, sitting, climbing stairs and ladders up to 24ft is required intermittently.
- Ability to work in all weather extremes.
- Physical abilities include but are not limited to being able to communicate information clearly as well as the ability to see objects at a close range and at a distance, in order to establish and maintain safe and effective working relationships with staff and students.
