Building Operations, a branch of the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Division, provides comprehensive facilities monitoring, operation, and optimization services in support of the University s operations. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employee without sponsorship. Security sensitive; criminal background check conducted on selected applicant. Hiring decision is contingent on applicant clearing check.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to applicable laws. Applications will be reviewed online by the hiring department. This is a 40-hour work week schedule; five 8-hour days with schedule to be discussed with supervisor. Some overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays possible. This position may be required to work on-call.

Purpose

Prevents and resolves customer and maintenance related issues by leading a team of skilled technicians in the monitoring of facilities equipment and maintaining the after-hours/emergency call center.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain high productivity, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and quality in a 24/7 Control Room environment; monitor KPIs and ensure budget adherence related to Building Automation System monitoring and dispatch.
  • Provide timely and courteous customer service; keep staff informed of policies and procedures; enforce safety requirements.
  • Prepare statements of work, solicit bids, select best value contractors, obtain funding, fill requisitions, and coordinate contractor work for maintenance and repairs when economical.
  • Prepare and process shop paperwork, create operator schedules, develop SOPs and training documents; coordinate with other shops as needed.
  • Maintain communication with leadership, maintenance teams, and campus clients; act as an after-hours call center and communications hub.
  • Participate in project reviews, staff meetings, and external shop trainings to ensure current policies and procedures are communicated.
  • Perform job-related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Diploma (High School) or GED; five years of experience in a construction/facility maintenance trade or a four-year technical degree; three years of supervisory experience in commercial/industrial construction or facility maintenance; experience using a PC. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in a technical field; journeyman trade apprenticeship; more than seven years of maintenance and repair experience with building mechanical and electrical systems;
University of Texas or comparable university experience; two or more years of supervisory experience; strong customer service, communication, and leadership skills; experience with computerized service request systems.

Salary

Salary Range: $74,025 + depending on qualifications
