Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high degree of productivity, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and quality in a 24/7 control room environment; monitor and control key performance indicators and budget related to Building Automation System monitoring and dispatch.
  • Provide timely and courteous customer service and keep shop employees updated on current policies and procedures; enforce all safety requirements.
  • Prepare statement of work, solicit bids, select contractors, obtain funding, and coordinate contractor work for maintenance repairs and replacements.
  • Compose, review, and process shop paperwork including letters, reports, timesheets, labor reports, emails, and materials requisitions. Create operator schedules, standard operating procedures, and training documents.
  • Communicate with leadership, maintenance teams, and campus clients; serve as after‑hours call center and communication hub.
  • Participate in project reviews, staff meetings, and external shop training to ensure policies and procedures are distributed appropriately.
  • Perform other job related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Diploma (High School) or GED.
  • Five years of experience in a construction or facilities maintenance trade or a four‑year technical degree.
  • Three years of experience directly or indirectly supervising commercial or industrial construction or maintenance shop personnel.
  • Experience using a personal computer or microcomputer.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or higher in a technical field.
  • Completion of a vocational trade or apprentice program in one or more journeyman trades.
  • Successful completion of the Facilities Services Leader Development Program.
  • Seven or more years of maintenance and repair experience with building mechanical and electrical systems.
  • University of Texas related experience or comparable university experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service through problem solving, conflict resolution, and direct customer contact.
  • Strong communication skills for a range of audiences including team members, peers, building contacts, and management.
  • Team building skills and ability to lead a diverse multi‑craft workforce.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to Facilities Services core values and experience with computerized service request systems.
Salary

$74,025 plus depending on qualifications.

Working Conditions
  • Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
  • May work in all weather conditions; possibly in extreme temperatures, around chemical fumes, standard office conditions, or biohazards.
