Nonprofit Offering Aid To People Experiencing Homelessness

• Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of shelter facilities, common areas, offices, staff spaces, and resident environments.
• Perform routine custodial duties, including cleaning floors, surfaces, windows, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, and entryways.
• Remove trash and debris, maintain waste collection areas, and uphold sanitation standards across the campus.
• Monitor assigned areas and promptly address cleanliness, safety, and pest-related concerns.

• Prepare vacated resident rooms for occupancy by cleaning, sanitizing, and ensuring units are move-in ready.
• Assist with resident move-ins, transitions, and related support activities as directed.
• Support bed bug prevention and mitigation efforts during room turnover and intake processes.
• Foster a respectful, trauma-informed, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

• Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of exterior areas, including walkways, entrances, gathering spaces, parking areas, and pet relief areas.
• Assist with groundskeeping, site beautification, seasonal weather preparation, and basic landscaping activities.
• Support facility operations through minor repairs, preventative maintenance, inventory restocking, furniture moves, material transport, and campus improvement projects.
• Identify and report maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities to improve campus functionality and appearance.

• Collaborate with Facilities, Safety and Security, Case Management, Supportive Employment, Community Engagement, and other departments to address facility, safety, and operational needs.
• Work closely with the Facilities Team Lead to prioritize work, complete projects, and support shelter operations.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and skill-sharing to Ameri Corps members, volunteers, resident workers, and peers as appropriate.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, safety briefings, and organizational initiatives.
• Safety, Documentation, and Work Order Management
• Respond to work orders and assigned tasks in a timely manner and maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and follow-up needs.
• Utilize agency databases and work order systems to document maintenance activities, custodial services, and required resident interactions.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities and grounds to identify maintenance, sanitation, safety, and pest-related concerns.
• Communicate emerging issues, supply needs, and work order status to the Facilities Team Lead and support compliance with agency policies and reporting requirements.

• Support emergency shelter operations, severe weather response, special events, volunteer activities, and other organizational priorities as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support agency operations and advance the mission of the organization.

In addition to the core responsibilities listed above, the Custodian may have site-specific duties based on the requirements of their assigned location.

Site contains 200 non congregate shelters, 8 hygiene facilities, 2 Quonset huts, several modular office buildings of varying sizes, an onsite intake center and an onsite vocational services center.

Most of this site requires outdoors work to provide cover for the 7.1 acres.
