The General Maintenance Supervisor is the first-line leader within Hotel ZaZa's Engineering Department and serves as the operational bridge between the maintenance team and Engineering leadership. This position is responsible for leading the daily execution of preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, facility upkeep, and team performance while ensuring every guest space and back-of-house area reflects the luxury standards of Hotel ZaZa.As
the direct supervisor of the maintenance team, the General Maintenance Supervisor combines technical expertise with strong leadership, accountability, and a proactive approach to facility operations. This role requires someone who leads by example, develops team members, responds quickly to operational challenges, and ensures every repair is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. At Hotel ZaZa, exceptional guest experiences begin long before a guest enters their room—and this position plays a critical role in delivering that promise through the care and maintenance of our property.
Key Responsibilities Supervise the daily activities of the maintenance team, assigning work orders, monitoring priorities, and ensuring timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance throughout the hotel.
Lead, coach, mentor, and evaluate maintenance technicians while fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
Ensure guest rooms, public spaces, restaurants, meeting rooms, and back-of-house facilities remain in excellent operating condition and consistently meet Hotel ZaZa's luxury presentation standards.
Coordinate daily preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and extend the life of building systems and assets.
Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies, guest service requests, equipment failures, and operational issues while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
Assist the Director of Engineering with scheduling, labor planning, project coordination, contractor oversight, and departmental workflow management.
Monitor building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, mechanical equipment, fire life safety systems, pools, and other facility infrastructure to ensure proper operation.
Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs while providing technical guidance and support to maintenance technicians.
Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, local building codes, life safety requirements, environmental standards, and all company safety policies.
Conduct routine inspections of hotel facilities to proactively identify maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and opportunities for facility improvements.
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, equipment repairs, inventories, and work orders using the hotel's maintenance management systems.
Monitor departmental inventory levels for tools, equipment, parts, and maintenance supplies while assisting with purchasing and cost control initiatives.
Assist with capital improvement projects, guest room renovations, equipment installations, and special projects as assigned.
Participate in emergency response procedures, severe weather preparedness, utility outages, and after-hours on-call responsibilities as required.
Foster positive working relationships with all hotel departments to ensure maintenance services support operational excellence and an exceptional guest experience.
Represent Hotel ZaZa through professional appearance, effective communication, technical expertise, and a commitment to operational excellence in every interaction.
High school diploma or GED required; technical trade school or vocational training in engineering, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 4 to 6 years of progressive building maintenance, hotel engineering, commercial facilities maintenance, or related experience.
Minimum of 1 to 2 years of supervisory or lead maintenance experience with demonstrated success managing maintenance personnel.
