Summary:

The Painter is responsible for maintaining the appearance, condition, and safety of the Community through interior and exterior painting, surface preparation, wall repair, and related maintenance activities. This position supports a clean, attractive, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and employees while performing work with minimal disruption to resident care and daily operations.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform interior and exterior painting of resident rooms, hallways, common areas, offices, dining areas, maintenance areas, and other community spaces.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, caulking, and repairing holes, cracks, and damaged drywall.
  • Apply paint, primer, stain, sealant, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and other appropriate equipment.
  • Perform drywall patching and minor wall repairs as needed.
  • Complete resident room touch-ups and painting associated with room turnovers.
  • Protect furniture, flooring, resident belongings, fixtures, and equipment before beginning work.
  • Properly set up and maintain work areas to minimize inconvenience and maintain the safety of residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Use appropriate signage, barriers, and other safety measures when working in resident or public areas.
  • Maintain painting tools, equipment, and supplies in clean and safe working condition.
  • Properly store paints, chemicals, solvents, and other materials in accordance with procedures and applicable safety requirements.
  • Monitor paint and supply inventory and notify the supervisor when additional materials are needed.
  • Follow manufacturer instructions and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements when using paints, chemicals, and related products.
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures when working in resident care areas.
  • Coordinate work with nursing, housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to minimize disruption to residents.
  • Respect resident privacy, dignity, personal property, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain professional and courteous interactions with residents, families, visitors, vendors, and employees.
  • Assist the Maintenance/Plant Operations Department with minor maintenance duties when necessary and within the employee's training and abilities.
  • Follow all facility policies, OSHA requirements, fire and life-safety procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or potential hazards to the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.
  • High School education or GED required; graduate of accredited technical school preferred but not required.
  • Position requires a minimum of one to three years of hands‑on maintenance and/or mechanical experience.
  • Position requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Position may require certifications or licenses, as determined by local authority.
