Shift Differential: $2.00 per hour for designated evening and weekend shifts.
Job DescriptionResponsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining area, and dishroom of a large-scale commercial food service operation.
Responsibilities- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks including dining area, kitchen, bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, cleaning floors, surfaces, walls, windows, patio furniture, removing trash, and dishwashing. Operate commercial cleaning equipment such as dish machines.
- Process dishware: sort silverware, scrape/stack dishes, clean pots/pans, and restock dishware for front of house. Replenish and move dishes as needed.
- Maintain a high level of sanitation and safety, adhering to all food service sanitation practices, policies, and procedures. Oversee chemical use, equipment maintenance, and storage; maintain the chemical room and inventory.
- Assist in training and guiding temporary and student staff. Communicate professionally with staff, supervisors, and customers. Stay current on all areas of responsibility. Report emergencies and needed repairs.
- Adhere to university policies and trainings, including food safety training, Texas Food Handler Safety, and use of PPE. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Six months of commercial cleaning experience.
- Six months of experience with commercial cleaning equipment such as dish machines, carpet or floor care equipment.
- Completion of required food safety training by University Housing and Dining.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications- One year or more of commercial cleaning experience.
- One year or more of experience with commercial cleaning equipment such as dish machines, carpet or floor care equipment.
- Experience in a large dining service operation.
- Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
$18.00 per hour
Working Conditions- Uniforms and personal protective equipment furnished.
- Work in all weather and variable temperatures.
- Work around chemical fumes, biohazards, and chemicals.
- Manual dexterity required; ability to climb stairs, push, pull, move up to 50 pounds, and lift up to 62 pounds.
- Workdays, area, and hours may vary; up to 19 hours per week for part-time positions.
Regular staff who have held their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible through University-Wide or Open Recruiting.
