Akkodis is seeking a Plant Trainer in Avon Lake, OH.

This role is ideal for an experienced automotive electrical diagnostician who has automotive dealership, hotline, or vehicle diagnostic experience and enjoys coaching others. The successful candidate will work directly with technicians and UAW personnel, helping troubleshoot electrical concerns and guiding them through effective diagnostic and repair processes.

** Travel is expected to be minimal, with occasional opportunities to support ETAS training centers in locations such as Kansas City, Chicago, Kentucky, Mexico, China, and Thailand.

Pay Range: $38/hr.

- $45/hr. (The pay may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Train, coach, and support UAW EOL personnel on vehicle diagnostics and electrical repair activities.
  • Provide hands‑on coaching and guidance to technicians during vehicle troubleshooting and repair.
  • Teach proper diagnostic procedures, including the use of scan tools, diagnostic codes, multimeters, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Support troubleshooting of electronic modules, vehicle wiring, communication networks, and electrical systems.
  • Develop and update technical training materials based on customer requirements, vehicle systems, and product updates.
  • Research vehicle and product information to identify training needs and develop appropriate technical content.
  • Work with customer contacts and internal/external subject matter experts to gather technical information.
  • Use engineering documentation, schematics, product information, and vehicle teardowns to develop technical training material.
  • Work directly with customers and plant personnel to identify and resolve vehicle issues.
  • Participate in technical meetings and communicate project status, concerns, and potential issues to the Project Manager/Team Lead.
  • Support new vehicle model launches and curriculum updates as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of hands‑on automotive electrical/electronic vehicle diagnostic experience.
  • Experience working with vehicles, dealership systems, or the technical hotline strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of automotive electrical and electronic systems.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical problems using scan tools, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), multimeters, wiring diagrams, and schematics
    .
  • Strong knowledge of automotive electronic modules and vehicle communication networks.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems, including electrical systems, engine controls, transmission controls, ABS, electronic stability control, and network communications.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to train and coach technicians with patience and clear, step‑by‑step instruction.
  • Assertive, professional, and comfortable working directly with customer and plant personnel.
  • High school diploma required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior automotive technical training or instructor experience.
  • ASE certifications
    .
  • Experience with electric vehicles (EVs) and EV battery technology.
  • Experience assessing technician diagnostic capabilities and tooling needs.
  • Engineering degree or technical education.
  • Experience developing technical presentations using Microsoft Power Point .
  • Familiarity with XML.
