Grounds Worker​/Custodian- Regular

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job. Must have knowledge of grounds keeping and landscape methods and practices; safe use, maintenance, and operation of grounds keeping tools and hand power equipment; safe use and application of pesticides and herbicides for pest/weed control purposes; methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work; requirements for maintaining school buildings and grounds in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.

Must possess the skill to effectively and safely use hand and hand power tools associated with grounds keeping and landscape work; understand and follow both oral and written instructions; read and write at a level necessary to perform required duties successfully; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. Must possess the ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency and to perform heavy physical labor.

Will perform general grounds maintenance work such as removing and replacing fences, posts, and signs; digs post holes and trenches; maintains hoses, supplies, tools and equipment in proper condition; assists with general custodial maintenance work as required; sets up portable bleachers for athletic events and special assemblies; reports unsafe hazards and conditions to appropriate authority; may direct the work of student assistants or other temporary help.

One year of experience in custodial, grounds work, or general labor work is required. Applicants must have the ability to read and write at a level necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Will be trained and responsible for the district's needs with regard to asbestos and hazardous materials. Must possess and maintain a California driver's license. Must submit a recent DMV (3-year minimum) driving record with application. A criminal history check and pre-employment medical assessment will be required of the successful candidate prior to employment.

Perform general grounds maintenance, landscape work as well as general cleaning and custodial functions at an assigned school site in the District. Employees in this class receive supervision from a Custodial Plant Supervisor or his/her designate within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This job class performs a variety of general grounds, landscapes and maintenance duties as well as the ability to exercise responsibility for the general cleanliness of assigned locations as well as performing a variety of duties in the upkeep of assigned school site and related areas.

• Starting salary: $3,568.22 (monthly)
• Number of months: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)
• Number of hours: 8 (daily working hours 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
