Starting Salary: $17.43 per hour, increases to $20.85 after 12 months.

Overview

We are seeking Facilities Support Specialists II – HSC. The role involves a variety of tasks related to room set‑ups, floor care, and custodial duties, including cleaning offices, meeting spaces, outside areas, and various floor types; moving furniture and equipment for events; and operating equipment to perform these tasks.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate designated equipment (lifts, auto‑scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, carpet extractors, etc.) to clean, strip, scrub, shampoo, and wax floors.
  • Utilize automated floor cleaning equipment according to schedule.
  • Apply proper procedures on carpet and upholstery (shampooing, damp surface, extractions, spot cleaning, vacuuming, etc.).
  • Perform maintenance and restorative processes for all floor surface types.
  • Clean, sweep, vacuum, and polish floors using various tools and cleaning materials.
  • Clean identified areas/spaces with required cleaners and disinfecting solutions to industry standards.
  • Clean walls, windows, blinds, vents, ceilings, and doors; may work from ladders, scaffolding, lifts or similar equipment.
  • Replenish paper towels, soap, toilet tissue, linen, and other supplies as required.
  • Inspect interior and exterior of building for service issues and report damages and needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Remove trash from assigned areas; move furniture, equipment, supplies, and recycle materials.
  • Transport biohazard containers to designated area when needed.
  • Remove snow, ice, and debris from exterior spaces including patios, sidewalks, and other areas.
  • Maintain assigned equipment and work areas in clean, orderly condition.
  • Observe safety precautions and properly use equipment and products.
  • Set up and remove furniture, equipment, and supplies for meetings and events.
  • Ensure flawless execution of events through accurate and timely setup and breakdown.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Operate large powered vacuum cleaners, cleaning and buffing equipment as needed.
  • Ascend/descend stairs regularly to clean them.
  • Lift, carry, or move objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, or otherwise move about campus continuously.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One or more years of experience in event set‑up and custodial operations.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • This is a Bargaining Unit position. Newly hired employees in Bargaining Unit positions are considered “probationary” until completion of 90 calendar days and become eligible for benefits thereafter.
