Position: Facilities Support Specialist Agora (Facilities & Real Estate)

Overview

We are seeking a Facilities Support Specialist who will perform a variety of tasks related to room set-ups, floor care and custodial duties. The Facilities Support Specialist will perform cleaning of offices, meeting spaces, outside areas, and various floor types; move furniture and equipment for events; perform set-ups and break downs before and after events; and operate equipment to perform these tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Operates designated equipment to include auto-scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, carpet extractors to strip, scrub, shampoo and wax floors; use surface cleaners or other larger mechanical machines needed to support facility operations of assigned facilities.
  • Utilize automated floor cleaning equipment according to schedule for cleaning large areas of floor surface.
  • Use proper procedures on carpet and upholstery (shampooing, damp surface, extractions, spot cleaning, vacuuming, etc.).
  • Perform maintenance and restorative processes for all floor surface types.
  • Clean, sweep, vacuum, and polish floors; use tools and equipment including hand power scrubbing and polishing equipment, vacuum cleaners, buffers, broom, dust pan, mops, buckets, cleaning solutions, and chemical cleaners.
  • Clean identified or assigned areas/spaces with required cleaners and disinfecting solutions to industry standards.
  • Clean walls, windows, window blinds, vents, ceilings and doors.
  • Replenish paper towels, soap, toilet tissue, linen, and other supplies as required.
  • Inspect exterior and interior of the building for service issues and report damages, malfunctions and needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Remove trash from assigned areas; move furniture and equipment; transport recyclable materials; unload and manage debris including construction waste as needed.
  • Transport biohazard containers (if needed) to designated area.
  • Remove snow, ice and debris from exterior spaces as required, excluding building entrances and sidewalks unless specified.
  • Maintain assigned equipment and work areas in clean and orderly condition.
  • Observe safety precautions and properly use equipment and products.
  • Set up and remove furniture, miscellaneous equipment and supplies required for meetings and events.
  • Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup and breakdown of events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Monitors events and refresh duties or changeovers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One or more years of experience preferred in events setup and custodial operations.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the equivalency formula.

  • Ability to operate large powered vacuum cleaners, cleaning and buffing equipment and other equipment as needed.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs on a regular basis to sufficiently clean them.
  • Ability to lift, carry or move and position objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk or move about campus on a continuous basis.
