Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Stationary Engineer 1st Class who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
Responsibilities- Be responsible for maintaining and controlling all plant equipment including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and all associated equipment.
- Maintain, service, and repair all boilers, chillers, generators, and associated equipment daily.
- Coordinate outside contractor support or assist in facilitating the completion of repairs and projects too large to be done in‑house.
- Obtain appropriate approval from leadership and properly document transactions.
- Complete assigned monthly PM work orders on time; document all work performed in the CMMS computer database.
- Record data such as temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumption, temperature or pressure, water levels, voltage load, and generator balance; record operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in the operator’s logbook or through the electronic system(s).
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 3–5 years of experience in commercial or hospital central utility plant operations required.
- 1st Class Stationary Engineer License, State of Maryland.
- Valid US Driver’s License required.
- Strong knowledge of boiler safety and power distribution.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to prioritize and remain calm in demanding situations.
- Able to use hand and power tools.
Employment Type:
Full‑time
Hours per Week: 40 hours/week
Typical Daily
Schedule:
Tuesday‑Saturday 10:30pm–7am
Shift Type:
Night Shift – Willing to be flexible on schedule
Holiday Requirements:
Follow company holiday calendar
Pay Range: $27.70 – $40.16 per hour
