Ground Mechanic

Job Overview

The Ground Support Mechanic is responsible for supporting highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and ensuring safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries.

• Inspect, repair, and maintain assigned AGE equipment used to support the transportation of Cabinet Members and other high‑ranking national and international dignitaries.
• Dispatch AGE to the flightline for flying operations and aircraft maintenance.
• Use maintenance instructions and technical data to inspect, maintain, and repair assigned ground equipment.
• Maintain hand and powered tools in an orderly manner.
• Complete maintenance data forms and enter information into the Maintenance Information System (MIS).
• Assist in training and directing assigned personnel.
• Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including TDY and travel.
• Work with fuel, oils, lubricants, chemical cleaners, solutions, and dispose of hazardous material and waste according to environmental standards.
• Work day, second, third, or weekend shifts as required.
• Receive cross‑utilization (CUT) training and qualify for maintenance tasks within the classification.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Working knowledge of powered AGE repair procedures.
• Specialized courses in powered AGE maintenance.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Two years recent experience as a powered AGE mechanic or equivalent in powered AGE maintenance.
• Section 608 Technician Universal Certification for refrigerant is highly desired.
• Occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
• Normal color vision.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance (US Citizenship required).
• Ability to obtain a flightline driver’s license.

• Section 608 Technician Universal Certification for refrigerant is highly preferred.

Hiring hourly rate: $48.85
