Custodian; SOM Facilities Management

We are seeking a Custodian who will clean, sweep, vacuum, and polish floors. The role involves using various tools and cleaning materials, including hand power scrubbing and polishing equipment, small and large vacuum cleaners, commercial buffers, brooms, dust brushes, dustpans, wet and dry mops, bucket mop wringers, special cleaning solutions, and chemical cleaners.

• Clean assigned areas or spaces using required cleaners and disinfecting solutions.
• Clean walls, windows, blinds, shades, ceilings, and doors.
• Work from ladders or scaffolding as needed.
• Replenish towels, soap, toilet paper, linen, and other supplies.
• Inspect the exterior and interior of the building for service issues.
• Report all damages, malfunctions, and needed repairs to the supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year or more of experience.

• High school degree or equivalent preferred; significant related experience or training may substitute.
• One year or more of experience is preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read and write, including reading labels on cleaning and detergent materials.
• Ability to operate large‑powered vacuum cleaners, cleaning, and buffing equipment.
• Ability to interact with faculty, students, staff, and visitors respectfully and courteously.
• Ability to lift, carry, or move objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, or move around campus continuously.
• Ability to ascend and descend stairs regularly.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• This is a bargaining unit position; newly hired employees are probationary until completion of 90 calendar days of employment.
