Why This Role Matters
The Porter independently cleans restrooms, offices, break rooms, locker rooms, kitchenettes, pantries, showers, stairwells, corridors, elevators, and other work areas. Duties involve a combination of the following: sweeping, mopping floors, removing trash and other materials for recycling, dusting furniture and fixtures, polishing metal fixtures or trimmings, replenishing restroom supplies.
What You Will Do
- Cleans offices, corridors, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, elevators, break rooms, library, closets, kitchenette, stairways, locker rooms, storage rooms, and other work areas.
- Informs supervisor of problems, concerns, and safety issues.
- Places wet floor signs and umbrella bags as needed.
- Sweeps, mops, vacuums, dusts, spot cleans carpets, polishes brass, and empties wastebaskets.
- Transports trash and recycling to designated disposal areas.
- Replenishes restroom supplies.
- Responds to government and emergency phone calls in assigned buildings and other contract-related buildings as needed.
- Maintains and is responsible for restroom, trash, and recycling carts.
- Produces quality work and maintains appropriate conduct and demeanor in accordance with Didlake policy.
- Follows safety standards and guidelines for proper equipment use.
- Completes and maintains all required Didlake training.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education & Experience
- High School diploma/GED or 6 months of previous custodial work experience.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to carry out simple but detailed instructions.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers.
- Must possess a positive team member attitude.
- Ability to interact effectively and supportively with people with disabilities.
- Ability to work in environments with narrow, moving, and/or slippery surfaces.
