Position: LEAD WORKER CUSTODIAL 1:30 pm - 10:30 pm, M-F

This full-time position is located in Baltimore, MD. Core working hours are 1:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The hourly wage is $24.11. The role requires a successful criminal background check, drug screening, and the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. Personal vehicle use may be required for transporting persons; liability insurance must be in full force and Melwood will reimburse mileage commensurate with the Travel policy.

Introduction

Under the supervision of the Custodial Foreman, perform cleaning tasks necessary to meet custodial contract specifications and assist in monitoring the custodial crew’s work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sweeps and mops hallways, stairs and offices.
  • Empties tenants’ waste baskets and disposes the trash in a prescribed manner.
  • Dusts horizontal surfaces.
  • Clean bathrooms.
  • Waxes and buffs floors with prescribed buffers.
  • Clears glass and windows.
  • Washes walls and other vertical surfaces.
  • Performs snow removal if required by contract specifications.
  • Polishes kick panels, door knobs and other designated fixtures.
  • Strips and waxes floors.
  • Vacuum rugs.
  • Mixes cleaning solutions.
  • Maintains issued equipment.
  • Notifies supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed to perform tasks.
  • Supervises activities of assigned workers on a temporary basis while performing own work.
  • Assumes responsibility of the crew during the absence of the foreman.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by the Custodial Foreman.
Essential Functions

Supervision Exercised

The Vice President of Human Resources supervises the Corporate/International Recruitment Manager, Staff Training Manager, Compensation & Benefits Manager, Human Resources Administrator and Human Resources Administrative Assistant.

Supervision Received

The incumbent is supervised by the Custodial Foreman.

Physical Qualifications

Stand or walk 90% of the work time; sit 10%. Lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds to clean work areas and handle supplies. Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as necessary. Communicate with supervisors and coworkers; must have good vision with depth perception and color discrimination for safety.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and one year experience in custodial work required. Some supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience with individuals of differing abilities preferred. Must be able to pass a security clearance.
