Streetlight Technician

Night shift: 9:00pm-7:00am. This entry-level position requires no prior experience. On-the-job training is provided, and you will receive weekly pay. All tools, uniforms, and PPE (hardhat, safety vests, safety glasses, work gloves, etc.) are supplied.

As a Streetlight Technician, you will repair, maintain, and install streetlights while managing assignments, equipment, and vehicles. All work follows company and industry Safety & Health protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain streetlights using aerial devices.
  • Operate heavy and light construction equipment such as digger derrick trucks, bucket trucks, backhoes, air compressors, generators, and hand tools.
  • Ensure safety during all construction operations.
  • Excavate ground areas for poles or foundations.
  • Maintain accurate job logs and stay organized.
  • Coordinate with locating companies to identify underground hazards.
  • Interpret construction plans, blueprints, and as-builts, executing the plan accurately.
  • Maintain positive relationships with traffic control companies, utility partners, and all involved parties.
  • Communicate with management regarding all job functions.
  • Work safely near energized and hazardous equipment.
  • Assist first responders for emergency jobs such as knockdowns.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Proficient in using tools such as voltmeters, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Availability for a 40‑hour per week schedule; overtime and weekend hours may be required.
  • Knowledge of power delivery and ability to identify power delivery components.
  • Capability to operate heavy equipment safely on and off the road.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Pre‑Employment Requirements
  • Pre‑employment drug screen, background check, and/or MVR check upon offer.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid DOT Medical Card.
  • Valid Driver's license.
Travel Requirements
  • Travel may be necessary during emergency storm work.
Physical Requirements
  • Rare (≤10%):
    Sitting, kneeling, crawling, color vision, climbing stairs.
  • Occasional (≤33%):
    Stooping, squatting, climbing on/off trucks, climbing ladders, pushing, reading, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent (≤66%):
    Carrying, pulling, balancing, body twisting, hearing/speech range, lifting up to 10 lbs., manual dexterity, speaking clearly, walking.
  • Continuous (≤100%):
    Standing, sense of touch, gripping, seeing, reaching, range‑of‑motion, depth perception, lifting 10-50 lbs., climbing.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and the requirement to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must maintain sufficient eyesight to judge distance and coordination of tools and equipment, sustain attention and concentration for extended periods, endure all types of weather while on the job, wear required personal protective equipment, frequently enter and exit vehicles, traverse varied terrain, perform the duties of a standard 8‑ or 10‑hour day, communicate effectively, read, write, and comprehend written and verbal instructions, and handle conflict professionally.
