Maintenance Mechanic Journeyman

Full‑time; evening shift 3:00pm‑11:30pm

This position is responsible for general facility, building and equipment maintenance and repair, both scheduled and unscheduled tasks, as assigned by the Call Center and/or Facilities and Maintenance management. Tasks include work‑order completion, preventative maintenance, problem identification and resolution, design of minor mechanical systems, determination of materials and supplies, documentation of activities, use of the Computer Maintenance Management System, and coordination with departmental management.

• Designs minor mechanical systems and/or system alterations and plans specifications utilizing data and standard engineering practices.
• Determines specialized equipment and components for the alteration of mechanical systems.
• Establishes project scope, schedules, manpower, material, equipment, etc. to perform and complete tasks.
• Maintains work areas, equipment rooms, and tools in an operational, clean, and orderly state, per departmental guidelines.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as assigned and assists higher‑classification departmental staff when required.
• Documents work activity both in writing and electronically through the Computer Maintenance Management System, per departmental guidelines.
• Mentors newly assigned employees.
• Coordinates mechanical work schedules with other trade mechanics—electricians, HVACR mechanics, plumbers, carpenters—to ensure timely project completion.

• Education: Associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience: 5 to 7 years of Journeyman‑level experience, moderate computer skill level, training and/or experience with 120v/208v/277v/460v electrical systems, pump repair and motor alignment, compressor/vacuum pump repair, and knowledge of mechanical codes and OSHA regulations.
• Certification/Licensure: Journeyman Certificate/License in the mechanical field (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) is preferred. Full MD driver’s license with a good driving record.
