Reporting to the Director of Facilities and/or their designee, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing assistance with an overview for the safe and efficient functioning, maintenance and operation of all Tuerk House facilities, buildings, equipment, machinery, utilities, landscaping, systems, physical environment, facilities’ aesthetics and grounds-keeping.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform minor repairs.
- Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
- Install appliances and equipment.
- Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash, etc.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g., ventilation).
- Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm).
- Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues.
- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Oversee contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and correct them.
- Perform cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping, etc.
- Repair machines or structures as necessary.
- Conduct fire drills as assigned.
- Assist with transportation of clients as needed.
- Deliver all packages received.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Weekend and after hours may occur on emergency or scheduled basis. Must be okay with Holiday rotation schedule as well.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Maryland driver’s license.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience or five (5) years or more.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, drywall, painting.
- Proficient use of a Computer Management Maintenance System (CMMS).
- Basic knowledge of computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Experience using hand and electrical tools.
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
- Personal belief in recovery and the recovery process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact effectively with staff, clients, and the public.
- High energy, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to engage clients flexibly based on their individual needs.
- Respect for and maintenance of professional boundaries with all individuals.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Proficiency in reading, understanding, and speaking English.
This position requires successful background and drug test completion.
Physical Requirements- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
The compensation for this position will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus.
