OverviewThe MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking a technical and supervisory professional to lead corrective, preventive and cleaning maintenance activities for our bus fleet. The position is located in Baltimore, Maryland.
Work ScheduleMonday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Saturday and Sunday off.
Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate, and direct the work of Local 1300 members and contracted personnel in corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and cleaning activities for the bus fleet.
- Provide independent judgment within established guidelines to support the Administration’s Transit Operations.
- Communicate with Assistant Superintendent & Superintendent of Facilities Bus or other designated officials as required.
- May be subject to call‑in 24 hours a day and required to maintain a reliable communication link for emergency call‑back requirements.
- May be required to work shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
- May be exposed to a variety of hazards; protective clothing and personal protective equipment must be worn.
- Considered an “Essential Employee”; must sign and agree to all policies and procedures relating to Essential Employee status.
- Eligible applicants may be subject to background investigation; a conviction is not an automatic disqualification.
- Subject to pre‑employment drug and substance abuse testing in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- High school graduation or high school equivalency certificate.
- Five (5) years of experience in repair, maintenance, installation, inspection, or testing of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, fuel pump and dispensing systems, or electro‑mechanical and electronic systems.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience as a foreman, leadman, or crew chief.
- Additional education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of required experience for up to three years of experience. For every thirty credit hours, at least six credit hours must have been in electrical or mechanical engineering courses.
Valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the State of Maryland.
