Monday–Friday day shift, no weekends
About the Role- This position is responsible for general facility, building and equipment maintenance and repair, both scheduled and unscheduled tasks, as assigned by the Call Center and/or Facilities and Maintenance management.
- Tasks include work order completion, preventive maintenance, problem identification and resolution, determining materials and supplies required for resolution, documenting activities, using the Computer Maintenance Management System, and communicating with the department’s management.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanic I and II classifications. Additional duties include: installs, tests, inspects, diagnoses, maintains, repairs and replaces equipment and components of new and existing mechanical equipment and systems (e.g., sterilizers, vacuum pumps, compressors, appliances, pumps, circulators, cooling towers, air handling equipment, regulators, generators, kitchen equipment, etc.).
- Determines project scope of work, schedules, manpower, materials, equipment, etc., to perform and complete tasks.
- Procures material as directed.
- Maintains work areas, equipment rooms and tools to stay operational, clean and orderly per departmental guidelines.
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks and assists higher departmental classifications as assigned.
- Documents work activity by written and electronic means using the Computer Maintenance Management System, per departmental guidelines.
- Reads and interprets written specifications, work orders, instructions, models and graphic illustrations (e.g., lay-out diagrams, blueprints, work sketches).
- Mentors newly assigned employees and provides technical training and guidance to others as assigned.
- Coordinates mechanical work with other trade mechanics (electricians, HVACR, plumbers, carpenters, etc.) to ensure timely completion of tasks/projects.
- Uses standard hardware and equipment required by assignments and applies industrial products as directed.
- Uses computer-based hospital systems for education, performance reviews, email, and related tasks.
- Education:
Associate’s degree preferred - Experience:
5 to 7 years of high-level knowledge of maintenance systems; experience with 120/208/277/460 V electrical systems; pump repair and motor alignment; compressor/vacuum pump repair - Certification/Licensure:
Full MD Driver’s license, good driving record
- Union rate: $22.29/hour
