General Maintenance Worker

We are looking to hire a General Maintenance Worker at our St. Inigoes, MD complex to support our engineering, testing, prototyping, repair, and production facilities, specifically in the Composites Shop. We are looking for a positive individual for the product prep area to serve as the primary tech in the dip room, where we apply chemical coating to various metals.
The following job functions are basic requirements (but other duties may be assigned as well):
- Assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties such as keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools, as well as cleaning up working areas, machines, and equipment.
- Assists journeymen by holding materials or tools and performing other tasks as directed.
- In some trades, the helper is confined to supplying, lifting, holding materials and tools, and cleaning working areas, and in other trades, the worker may be permitted to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by more senior workers.
- The kind of work the helper is permitted to perform varies from trade to trade but we are specifically looking for product prep skills, particularly with the chemical coating process.
These specialized product prep duties include, but are not limited to:
- Must be able to obtain overhead crane (CAT III Non-Cab) certification within the first 60 days of employment in order to be able to dip parts into tanks.
- Must be able to read and comprehend job orders and technical documentation to ensure proper chemical conversion coatings are applied to the appropriate metals.
- Must be proficient with computer operation and the ability to update order tracking and work status.
- Prior experience applying chemical conversion coatings to various metals according to technical specifications is highly desired.
Work Conditions:
- Conditions will vary.
- Capable of working outdoors and occasionally from elevated work platforms with fall protection harness and in temperatures ranging from 0-120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
- Will be working in areas with hazardous chemicals and may be required to wear PPE when appropriate.
- Some overtime is a requirement of this position.
Requirements:
Education/Experience/
Skills:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Formal trade school, college, or military training school highly desired.
- Knowledge of common hand and power tools.
- Minimum of two (2) years of general shop experience, with knowledge of basic power tools.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Solid organizational, computer, and communication skills.
- Must have (or be able to obtain within the first 60 days of employment) an overhead crane (CAT III Non-Cab) certification.

- Current Maryland Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
- U.S. Citizenship required and you must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
- All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
