Position: Facilities Support Specialist II - HSC (Johns Hopkins Facilities & Real Estate)

We are seeking a Facilities Support Specialist II
-HSC
who will perform a variety of tasks related to roomset-ups, floor care and custodial duties. Support Specialist IIwill perform the following but not limited to cleaning offices,meeting space, outside areas, and various floor types; movefurniture and equipment for events, perform set-ups and break downsbefore and after events; and operate equipment to perform thesetasks.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operates designated equipment to include lifts, auto-scrubbers,burnishers, buffers, carpet extractors to strip, scrub, and shampooand wax floors, all surface cleaners, or other larger mechanicalmachines needed to support facility operations of assigned facilities.
  • Utilize automated floor cleaning equipment according to schedule for cleaning of large area of floor surface.
  • Uses the proper procedures on carpet and upholstering(shampooing, damp surface, extractions, spot cleaning, vacuuming,etc.).
  • Performs maintenance and restorative processes for all floorsurface types.
  • Cleans, sweeps, vacuums, and polishes floors. Uses various tools, equipment, and cleaning materials to include, but not limited to hand power scrubbing and polishing equipment, small andlarge vacuum cleaners, large commercial type buffer, broom,dustpan, wet and dry mop, bucket mop wringer, special cleaningsolution, and chemical cleaners.
  • Cleans identified or assigned areas/spaces with requiredcleaners and disinfecting solutions to industry standards.
  • Cleans walls, window, window blinds and shade, vents, ceilingsand doors. May work from ladders, scaffolding, lifts or other similar equipment.
  • Replenishes paper towels, soap, toilet tissue, linen, and othersupplies as required.
  • Inspects exterior and interior of building for service issuesand report all damages, malfunctions and needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Removes trash from assigned areas. Moves furniture,miscellaneous equipment, supplies and/or recyclable materials,empties large and small trash containers, removes miscellaneousdebris and discarded building materials such as a broken plaster,wood, and brick.
  • Transports biohazard containers (if needed) to designatedarea.
  • Removes snow, ice and debris from exterior spaces to includepatios but not building entrances, sidewalks and other areas as required.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and work areas in clean and orderly condition.
  • Observes safety precautions and properly uses equipment and products.
  • Sets up and removes furniture, miscellaneous equipment and supplies required for meetings and events.
  • Ensures a flawlessly executed event though accurate and timelysetup, and breakdown of event.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Monitors events and for refreshing duties or change overs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One or more years of experience in events set-up and custodialoperations.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interact and/or work with faculty, students, staff,and visitors in a respectful and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work, collaborate and communicate with effectivelyas a team.
  • Ability to work alone or in a team setting.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructionsincluding diagrams.
  • Ability to read and write such as to be able to read labels on cleaning and detergent materials, disinfecting solutions, and soforth.
  • Ability to operate large, powered vacuum cleaners, cleaning andbuffing equipment and other equipment as needed.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs on a regular basis to sufficiently clean them.
  • Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move and position objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk or otherwise move about campus on acontinuous basis.
