Floor Care Technicians are generally responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surfaces, carpeted areas, and upholstered furniture within the Baltimore Convention Center. Work involves no supervisory responsibilities. Employees receive moderate supervision from the Operations Crew Leaders and Operations Supervisors. Employees in this class work on a rotating shift basis. Work is performed primarily in building interiors where there are no hazardous conditions.
Work requires moderate physical exertion. The work of this individual involves evening, weekend, holiday, shift-work, and occasional mandatory overtime.
- Performs preventative maintenance check on all equipment prior to use.
- Secure the work area and posts proper safety notices for other users of the space prior to beginning work.
- Installs and replaces carpet and tile throughout the building as necessary.
- Cleans and maintains hard surfaces, carpeted areas, and upholstered furniture.
- Mops (dry and damp), buffs, and burnishes hard surface floors.
- Vacuums, shampoos, bonnets, and extracts carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and orders replacements as necessary. Maintains cleaning schedules and maintenance records.
- Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance on specialty floor equipment.
- Monitors Floor Care Technician floors for cleanliness and damage.
- Secures all equipment and supplies in proper storage areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
