The City of Bangor Public Works Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator. The primary responsibility is operating various types of trucks and related equipment to perform highway and sanitation duties.
The Department maintains approximately 300 lane miles of streets and 140 miles of sidewalks. Tasks include digging holes, burying pipes and basins, paving sidewalks, maintaining street signs, painting lines, sweeping, plowing, salting, and snow removal.
The incumbent must hold, at minimum, a State of Maine Class B license and will operate a plow/salt/sand/dump truck along with other heavy equipment.
Salary range is $20.24 to $23.44 per hour, depending on experience, with annual merit increases up to 5% and yearly adjustments based on the collective bargaining agreement. Additional hourly stipend pay may be available for holders of a Class A license, Arborist license, Pesticide license, Professional Loggers Certificate, and Welders License.
