Description:

This position involves the custodial care of buildings and grounds of a mental health hospital. Work includes cleaning residential and ground areas including bedrooms, dayrooms, dining areas, bathrooms, corridors, and program areas. Additional responsibilities include shoveling, moving furniture, and requires considerable physical effort and exposure to abnormal human behavior. Work is performed under general supervision.

Leads a small number of other employees and participates in the routine cleaning of buildings and the care of surrounding grounds in order to maintain building cleanliness.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be able to: function as a lead worker in a structured work environment; follow instructions; operate manual and automatic custodial equipment; adhere to safety rules; adapt quickly to diverse work assignments; work harmoniously in a team environment; lift 40 lbs. unassisted; and follow a work schedule.

Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC) is a 69-bed psychiatric hospital serving the entire State of Maine that provides services for people with severe mental illness.
