Thank you for your interest in joining our team! We are currently looking for a Facilities Manager to join our team!
Downstreet is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead maintenance operations across our affordable housing portfolio and organizational facilities. This person will supervise staff and contractors, strengthen preventive maintenance, and ensure our buildings are safe, responsive, efficient, and compliant.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead, supervise, coach, and schedule facilities staff and foster an accountable, safety-focused team
Oversee work orders, unit turnovers, preventive maintenance, grounds, custodial, and seasonal operations
Set priorities and service standards; monitor response times, completion, quality, and resident impact
Coordinate inspections, emergency repairs, and after-hours response; keep life-safety and critical systems operational
Lead the modernization of our maintenance team’s use of technology to support excellence in communication with tenants and a workflow that results in maximized occupancy across our portfolio
Manage vendors and contracts, including bids, purchasing, invoices, and contractor performance
Develop facilities budgets and maintain tools, vehicles, equipment, and inventories
Partner with property and asset management on capital planning, rehabilitation, and development projects including supporting the coordinated handoff of newly developed properties from the development phase to property management operations
Ensure compliance with safety, fair housing, building, fire, environmental, and other requirements; maintain records
Communicate respectfully with residents and staff and represent Downstreet professionally
Education & ExperienceFive years of facilities, property maintenance, construction, or building operations experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong supervisory experience including overseeing a team and supporting prioritization and training.
Working knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance, work-order systems, and safety practices
Experience with budgets, purchasing, projects, vendors, and competing priorities across multiple sites
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, set expectations, solve problems, and respond calmly in emergencies
Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, and customer service skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to learn property management and work-order software
Commitment to equity and inclusion, social and economic justice, and safe, respectful homes for residents
Valid Vermont Driver's License and ability to travel regularly among Downstreet properties
Physical RequirementsFrequent travel and ability to access all sites, buildings, apartments, and facilities, including stairs and uneven surfaces
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work indoors and outdoors in varied weather conditions
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and respond to occasional after-hours emergencies
Compensation$75,000 to $82,000 per year.
