Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Operation Resource

Clinical Operations Resource Registered Nurse – Night shift, some PM shifts, holiday and weekend shifts.

BSN required.

At least four years of inpatient/acute care nursing experience, including previous charge nurse or leadership experience.

The Clinical Operations Resource RN assists the Manager of Staffing Effectiveness in providing administrative and clinical leadership on all shifts. The Nursing Clinical Operations Resource Nurse will help plan, coordinate and manage personnel and resources to provide the highest quality patient care with trained, professional and competent staff in the most cost‑effective manner. In conjunction with the manager, the RN will collaborate with physicians and other health care disciplines to assure optimal patient care.

This role will also be responsible for facilitating safe, effective and efficient patient throughput and placement.

Major Responsibilities
  • Works with the Patient Command Center and coordinates staffing for the facilitation of safe and efficient patient throughput and global distribution of staffing resources.
  • Oversees operational efficiency and utilization of labor resources of the assigned shift in collaboration with unit-based charge nurses to ensure HPPD and LCE targets are met.
  • Participates in daily safety and capacity huddles.
  • Makes staffing recommendations and assignments at identified levels of competency as determined by state law, hospital policy, and regulatory agencies for the provision of safe and high-quality patient care.
  • Solicits feedback on customer needs through ongoing assessments and rounding, shares findings and offers suggestions for improvement for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
  • Works with teams to develop, implement and track quality improvement activities contributing to overall quality of care, KRA goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Understands departmental productivity measures and uses monitoring, data reports, technology and assessment tools to assess the effectiveness of work hour and labor cost efficiency.
  • Gathers, records, and responds to staffing needs according to fluctuations in staffing and census, updating the schedule as needed.
  • Provides correspondence with outside agencies for the management of agency resources as needed.
  • Addresses problems and conflicts that arise between patients, families and health care providers.
  • Responds to patient and family needs in times of stress or crisis.
  • Ensures compliance to all regulatory/safety standards.
  • Responds to and resolves patient, customer, and associate complaints in a timely fashion.
  • Reviews customer satisfaction survey results, sets targets for improvement, and implements appropriate action plans.
  • Holds associates accountable for customer service standards.
  • Acts as the primary contact person for issues concerning protective custody and unobtainable consents.
  • Facilitates drug/alcohol testing procedures according to hospital policy.
  • Interacts with the press regarding newsworthy incidents according to hospital policy.
  • Participates as a member of the incident command team during hospital-wide emergency situations following FEMA guidelines.
  • Provides structure to support associates in providing quality care by assisting in establishing standards of care, policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Supports team member engagement by mentoring new staff, encouraging recognition, and promoting professional development.
  • Provides counseling and direction to all staff regarding professional practice and uses appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required

Registered Nurse (RN). Specialty certification per hospital requirements; board certification strongly encouraged within two years.

Education/Experience Required

BSN required. Minimum four years of inpatient/acute care nursing experience, including previous charge nurse or leadership experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Strong clinical skills, problem‑solving and analytical ability, exceptional communication skills, a high level of customer service, and utilization of critical thinking in timely decision making.
