Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker

Under the direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, Lead worker or other qualified crew member, the Caltrans Highway Maintenance Worker performs miscellaneous labor while performing duties associated with maintaining the State highway system. The incumbent must possess a valid Class "C" Driver's License. The incumbent may be required to work overtime including nights and weekends, may be required to work temporary and/or intermittent varied work shifts, and may respond to emergency calls.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the CALTRANS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
