Description:

The Bartlett Public Library District is seeking qualified applicants for a brand‑new department and position, a full‑time Outreach Librarian. The Outreach Librarian delivers library services to patrons at their point of need by planning and implementing outreach initiatives, including homebound delivery, off‑site programming, and community engagement. This position develops community partnerships, participates in collection development, represents the library at community events, and promotes inclusive, equitable, and accessible services that strengthen connections between the library and the community.

• Develop and coordinate outreach efforts for all demographic groups within the community.
• Manage homebound delivery program to individuals at their point of need.
• Implement strategies for maximizing the reach of library services, specifically to underserved populations.
• Participate in the collection development process by maintaining budget, selecting, and weeding materials in assigned area.
• Develop and deliver programs that meet the interests and needs of the community at outreach locations and other points of service.
• Collaborate with the Marketing department on outreach awareness efforts, promotional materials and initiatives.
• Represent the library at community events and operate the library book bike.
• Provide reference and readers’ advisory assistance and process interlibrary loan requests for patrons at their point of need.
• Provide instruction on the library’s digital offerings and e‑sources to patrons and staff at their point of need.
• Stay current regarding library technology and trends.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited institution
• At least one (1) year of experience in a public library setting.
• At least one (1) year of experience in library outreach
• Must have valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Must take bicycle safety class upon hire.
• Must be willing to work a variety of hours, including nights and weekends.
