LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking an Applications Engineer to join our client's organization in the Bartlett, IL area.
Key Responsibilities- Review customer part requirements to determine appropriate fixturing, tooling, grinding wheels, and machining processes for standard and turnkey projects.
- Conduct process acceptance, machine startup, installation, and operator training at factory and customer locations.
- Perform machine demonstrations, time studies, feasibility evaluations, and sample part processing to support sales activities.
- Provide applications support for trade shows, open houses, and customer‑facing events.
- Assist with prototype machine testing, including PLC validation and evaluation of mechanical and control software functions.
- Offer technical phone support to customers, sales teams, and distributors.
- Attend training seminars and courses to remain current with industry and technology developments.
- Travel domestically and internationally (25–50%) to support installations, training, and machine runoff activities.
- Perform physical tasks associated with machine support, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Associate degree in Engineering or completion of a related technical certificate program preferred; relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
- 5–7 years of CNC machine tool experience, with emphasis on grinding and turning applications.
- Experience in customer‑facing technical or applications roles.
- Working knowledge of Siemens, Fanuc, and Mitsubishi control platforms.
- Proficiency in G‑code programming, conversational programming, and CAD/CAM CNC programming.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Solid Works; ERP experience (e.g., JD Edwards) is beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional environments with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional presence and ability to represent the company effectively in customer‑facing situations.
