This role requires strong analytical skills, extensive vendor coordination, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced production environment. The Estimator will play a key role in ensuring project profitability by conducting detailed cost reviews, sourcing materials, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Prepare comprehensive project estimates by analyzing proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
- Research and evaluate material, labor, and equipment costs for projects involving wood, metal, and mixed‑material fabrication.
- Utilize estimating software and internal tools to generate accurate cost models and pricing structures.
- Participate in project meetings to clarify scope, confirm requirements, and ensure estimates align with project objectives.
- Develop and assemble bid packages, RFQs, and proposal documents for internal and external stakeholders.
- Review subcontractor bids, proposals, and quotes to ensure accuracy, competitiveness, and alignment with project needs.
- Maintain and update the company’s cost database, ensuring current pricing and vendor information is reflected.
- Support Project Management by providing cost insights, clarifying estimate details, and assisting with project handoff.
- Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, operations, and project management teams to gather information and resolve scope questions.
- Communicate with vendors to obtain pricing, verify lead times, and close information gaps that impact project costing.
- Recommend alternative materials, processes, or sourcing strategies to improve profitability and reduce overall project costs.
- Ensure all project components are captured, documented, and accurately reflected in final estimates.
- Produce complete, accurate, and timely estimate documents prior to submission to the sales team.
- Adapt to evolving business needs and contribute to a wide range of tasks in a dynamic production environment.
- 3+ years of experience in estimating, preferably within retail fixtures, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of project costing involving wood, metal, and fabrication processes.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and estimating software platforms.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to cross‑functional teams.
- Strong initiative, willingness to learn, and commitment to continuous professional development.
