Job Summary

The Project Engineer III is responsible for leading the execution of New Product Development (NPD), sustaining engineering, and research and development programs. This role provides technical leadership within cross‑functional Integrated Product Development Teams (IPDTs), ensuring product designs meet customer requirements, certification standards, and program objectives. The Project Engineer III operates with minimal supervision and is accountable for driving technical decisions, coordinating engineering activities, and delivering program results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering activities across all phases of product development, including proposal, design, analysis, fabrication support, testing, and entry‑into‑service.
  • Provide technical leadership within the IPDT, coordinating cross‑functional efforts to meet program objectives, schedules, and customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain engineering plans and support overall project scheduling in alignment with program milestones.
  • Lead design efforts, including creation, review, and approval of engineering drawings, models, and technical documentation.
  • Oversee preparation and approval of engineering and certification documentation (e.g., ATPs, QTPs, test reports).
  • Perform or guide engineering analysis activities (e.g., stress, thermal, flow) and ensure technical adequacy of results.
  • Lead design reviews and drive resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Interface directly with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance with technical and program requirements.
  • Support and guide manufacturing and test activities, including troubleshooting and design improvements.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership and customers.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Participate in or support internal and external audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (M.S. preferred).
  • Minimum five years of aerospace engineering experience or related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience leading or executing new product development programs through multiple phases.
  • Prior experience with aircraft qualification and/or certification processes (FAA, EASA, or equivalent) and associated development milestones.
  • Ability to create, review, and approve engineering drawings and models, including GD&T per ANSI/ASME Y14.5.
  • Prior experience preparing and approving engineering and certification documentation (e.g., ATPs, QTPs, reports).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and coordinate engineering activities.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft systems (e.g., ECS, air management systems, or similar fluid/thermal/mechanical systems).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with aircraft fluid systems.
  • Experience with environmental and qualification testing and requirements (e.g., RTCA DO-160, MIL‑STD‑810).
  • Experience with AS9145 / APQP Project Planning and Product Design & Development phases.
  • Experience with finite element modelling and analysis.
  • Experience with CATIA V5.
  • Familiarity with metal manufacturing/forming processes and design for manufacturability.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior engineers.
  • Prior experience supporting or participating in audits (e.g., AS9100, customer audits).
Compensation & Benefits

Annual target salary: $. Standard work week is Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. The role includes a market‑led base salary, comprehensive benefits package with wellness benefits, 401(k) match, and paid time off.
