** Sr. Application Engineer assists and supports existing/potential customers in the selection, application, and commissioning of products that provide the optimum solution for their machine and process applications. To further leverage their advanced product knowledge, the Sr. Application Engineer organizes, creates, and provides supporting information, tools, and training necessary for the effective sales and support of products in the market. In addition to directly supporting customers, the Sr.

Application Engineer mentors new Application Engineers, reviews and designs product modifications and specials as needed, as well as supports New Product Development in their efforts to expand and enhance WITTENSTEIN product offerings.

** Responsibilities
* ** Provide answers to technical questions from customers, sales, customer center, and other departments concerning the proper and optimum application of the full range of products offered by WITTENSTEIN Alpha. Particular products and areas of competence will be assigned and stressed on an individual basis in agreement between the employee and supervisor. Assist Application Engineers with more complex applications using advanced features in Cymex or other simulation simulation tools.
* Analyze customer needs, then select the appropriate product that will satisfy their application. Prepare formal presentation material and assist in giving formal presentations for internal and external customer sites. Assist marketing in planning / developing demonstration equipment for trade show exhibits including procurement of equipment, set-up, demonstration, and discussion with potential customers, as needed.
* Create new part designs and product modifications following the Product Development Process.
* Work with service, development, and product engineering in Germany to recognize and diagnose chronic problems and failure mechanisms and provide solutions to improve the products. Analyze competitive product features and performance to identify technical strengths and weaknesses with respect to our respective products and solution, as needed.
* Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay appraised of new developments in the field. Acquire new technology skills through attendance at in-house training seminars as well as commercial or academic training courses.
* Support production and quality departments as required to improve efficiency, troubleshoot issues, and reduce the cost of quality. Assist in customer quotes. Perform other duties as needed### Qualifications Qualifications
* Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems and their use.
* Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as analytic geometry, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.
* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
* Ability to work independently on single items as well as cohesively and efficiently as part of a team.
* Ability to interpret and understand 2D drawings.
* Ability to seek out critical technical data for customer applications.
