Job Summary

Requires precision welding of company and customer products in compliance with rigid customer and engineering specifications and requirements using GTAW process. Perform welding of various alloy groups in accordance with AWS D17.1 and QOP‑62‑02 (Groups I, II, III, IV, and VI).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Qualify to AWS D17.1 and QOP‑62‑02, understand all weld symbols and specifications, and pass visual, radiographic and metallographic examinations.
  • Determine the sequence of welding operations, tolerances and dimensional requirements from blueprints, welding manuals and established procedures.
  • Perform gas, inert gas arc or metallic arc welding on flat, horizontal, vertical or circular surfaces in compliance with customer and engineering specifications.
  • Weld thin materials (0.010”–0.100”), thin materials to castings, thick materials (0.101”–0.5”), close‑to‑edge parts, and thick‑to‑thin combinations.
  • Weld formed parts and assemblies where surface profile, finish and contour are critical.
  • Weld tanks, pressure vessels, piping and similar items, ensuring soundness and penetration of the weld.
  • Weld parts and assemblies where heat application may cause distortion or warping, maintaining specified dimensions and tolerances after welding.
  • Layout weld locations and set up as required by written instructions.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one‑year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification Requirements
  • Perform x‑ray quality precision welding in compliance with AWS D17.1 and QOP‑62‑02 (Groups I, II, III, IV or VI) – maintain at least one of the following certifications.
  • Or maintain two or more certifications in AWS D17.1 and QOP‑62‑02 (Groups I, II, III, IV or VI) and actively weld those materials.
Manufacturing Standards
  • SSP Welding Certificate
  • “S” Stamp
  • Maintain minimum output of 90%
  • Maintain minimum product quality acceptance of 95%
Work Hours and Compensation

Target hourly rate: $19.16 – $45.18 – Grade 11.
Monday – Friday, 2nd Shift: 3:30 pm – 12:00 am.
