Holman Upfitting has an exciting opportunity for a Painter to join our team in Bartlett, IL!

  • Pay: $25/hr
  • Shift: Monday to Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Responsibilities
  • Prepare vehicle and component surfaces for painting through power washing, laser cleaning, degreasing, sanding, scraping, masking, seam sealing, and body filler application.
  • Read and complete work orders, determine material requirements, and verify paint colors and quantities.
  • Mix and apply primers, enamels, paints, and other coatings to commercial vehicles and components.
  • Monitor paint consistency and viscosity to ensure proper spray application and finish quality.
  • Repair paint defects, runs, and imperfections through touch‑up, sanding, and buffing techniques.
  • Perform basic mechanical teardown and reassembly, including trim, hardware, handles, hinges, weather stripping, and doors.
  • Apply undercoating, Chip Guard, decals, stripes, non‑skid coatings, and other finishing products as required.
  • Operate and maintain paint booths, mixing systems, spray equipment, and related tools while keeping work areas clean and organized.
  • Safely move and handle large vehicle components using company lifting equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, hazardous materials, and RCRA procedures.
  • Communicate quality concerns and identify opportunities for process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of automotive, fleet truck or heavy equipment painting experience required.
  • Automotive refinishing experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of catalyzed enamel, sealers, primers, single-stage, and basecoat/clearcoat paint systems.
  • Familiarity with plural component paint mixing systems preferred.
  • Experience working in a baking booth environment preferred.
  • Ability to prep, sand, buff, and correct paint imperfections before and after paint application.
  • Knowledge of secondary paint operations, including undercoating, Chip Guard, decals, stripes, non‑skid coatings, and finish corrections.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude, including removing and reinstalling trim, hardware, handles, hinges, weather stripping, and doors.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Process‑oriented with the ability to follow established work instructions and procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Experience operating or driving heavy‑duty trucks, commercial vehicles, or large equipment preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have the tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Willingness to complete all required safety, environmental, hazardous materials, and regulatory training.
  • Must pass a drug test, have a valid DL and criminal background check prior to employment.
