The Edge Construction is hiring an experienced Drywall Taper to join our team of professional commercial carpenters. This position focuses on delivering clean, consistent drywall finishes across a variety of commercial projects in the Greater Chicago area. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with production taping tools, particularly the bazooka, and the ability to assist with drywall hanging and framing as needed.

Apply drywall compound and finish drywall joints using production taping tools (including bazooka)

Perform sanding and finishing work to create smooth surfaces for paint or wall coverings

Assist in drywall hanging and patching as needed

Collaborate with framing and hanging crews to ensure proper drywall installation

Operate and work safely on scissor lifts for elevated projects

Maintain a clean and safe job site, following OSHA standards

Read and interpret blueprints and site instructions when needed

Complete assigned work with a focus on quality, speed, and consistency

Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial drywall finishing/taping

Proficient with automatic taping tools, including bazooka

Experience in drywall hanging and patching

Framing and acoustical ceiling grid experience is a plus

Familiar with commercial construction job site workflows

OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain — we offer training)

Valid driver’s license

Comfortable using scissor lifts and working at heights

Able to lift 50 lbs., stand for long periods, climb ladders, and work in variable site conditions
