This position is under the supervision of the Director of Aging Services. The Transportation Manager oversees operations of the Transportation Division of the Aging Services Department and is responsible for supervision of bus drivers and the dispatcher. The role requires an Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement, a general knowledge of dispatch operations, State of Illinois Rules of the Road, and Americans with Disabilities Act requirements to manage the transportation program effectively.
The Transportation Manager addresses mechanical needs of the vehicles and communicates updates with the Director of Facilities and Road Maintenance to ensure proper fleet operations. The position also fills in for the Dispatcher and transports clients by driving a bus when needed. Regular communication with staff and partners regarding the Dial-A-Bus service, Supported Employment Transportation program, the Township Riders Initiative Program (TRIP), and PACE Vanpool ensures all Township policies and procedures are followed.
The role participates as a member of the Aging Services Managerial Team in overseeing applicable Township and Aging Services functions.
- Salary/Pay Rate: $70,000 - $75,000 annually

- Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Logistical Management, or related field preferred.
- Current Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement highly preferred.
- Two years of experience in transportation required.
- Two years in a supervisory capacity highly preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be proficient with all Microsoft Office applications including, but not limited to Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or alternate work schedule required.
