1st Shift: 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. (Monday to Friday) occasional evenings plus weekends

Must possess a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment.

• This is semi‑skilled manual and facility coordination work supporting the day‑to‑day operations of the UF/IFAS Extension Polk County Office and affiliated properties. The position ensures buildings, event spaces, and outdoor areas are functional, presentable, and ready for internal and public use. Work involves general facility upkeep, logistical support for events, coordination with internal staff and user groups, and communication with the County Facilities.

• Supports facility readiness and upkeep across all Cooperative Extension Division locations, including the Extension Office, meeting rooms, Hunt Building, W.H. Stuart Center, Hayman Arena, livestock barns, gardens, and surrounding grounds.
• Performs daily walk‑throughs and site checks; assists with general upkeep such as clearing walkways, removing small debris, and ensuring exterior areas are presentable and safe.
• Operates light to medium‑duty machinery and vehicles for facility and grounds tasks (e.g., utility vehicles, blowers, small loaders).
• Monitors facility reservations and supports the reservation process by following up on missing documentation or special needs.
• May provide basic oversight for supervised work crews, including volunteers or assigned inmate labor, engaged in outdoor or facility support tasks.
• Supports internal and public events, which will require occasional flexible hours including evenings or weekends.

• Knowledge of facility and grounds maintenance practices.
• Ability to operate a variety of small equipment and tools safely.
• Proficiency in using digital tools including email, online calendar systems, work order submission platforms, and facility management software such as Rec Trac.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in facility maintenance, event support, grounds keeping, or related work.
• Must possess a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment.
• Must undergo and successfully pass a Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting and a review of state and national criminal history records, as defined by Florida Statutes Chapter 435, prior to employment.
• Maintaining Level 2 clearance is a condition of continued employment.
