Mobile Equipment Operator , Heavy

• Operates various types of heavy equipment.
• Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance such as oil changes.
• Performs other duties as directed such as shoveling asphalt, digging footings for setting concrete forms, placing traffic control devices, delivering, loading and unloading materials and/or equipment, flagging traffic, and operating power and hand tools.
• Attends required training in accordance with the Department’s Structured Training Program.
• Obtains and maintains CDL (required for MEO 2 and MEO 1 - Heavy only); reports CDL revocation to appropriate personnel in accordance with the Departments Commercial Driver’s License Policy (PPM #25).
• Might perform incidental repair and construction tasks such as bridge repair, drainage structure repair, installation of guardrail, fencing, fender systems and cabling at movable bridges and other structures.
• Might perform any other tasks assigned by supervisor or higher-level personnel in order to accomplish the Department’s transportation, maintenance, and construction mission.
• Might train and/or assist in training lower-level operators or laborers.
• Might be required to perform other duties as necessary, including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.

• Compensation:
  • MEO-1 $ 16.06 per hour (plus $1.00 premium pay per hour). A 10% base pay increase is granted upon attainment of permanent status.
  • MEO-2 $ 17.18 per hour (plus $1.00 premium pay per hour). A 10% base pay increase is granted upon attainment of permanent status.
  • MEO-1/HEAVY $21.05 per hour.
