Reporting Relationships: Director of Plant Operations

Job Summary: A skilled entry level maintenance Tech. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and performs a variety of duties in the maintenance and operation of the facility. The incumbent may advance to a higher level after gaining a minimum of 6 months experience, demonstrates proficiency, and receives a state boiler operator license.

Job Duties:
  • Assists others in maintaining a clean facility.
  • Priorities and completes work orders within a reasonable length of time as determined by hospital and departmental policy.
  • Under supervision operates steam boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, associated controls, and all other equipment in the central plant and throughout the facility.
  • Collaborate with other Maintenance department personnel when assistance is necessary to complete a job.
  • Performs corrective and preventative maintenance with knowledge and expertise on specific hospital equipment.
  • Performs security duties as needed.
  • Receives supplies, verifies accurate quantity, signs for, and files any paper work when deliveries are made to the department.
  • Properly handles tools, materials and equipment in a safe manger.
  • Maintains knowledge of all codes, regulations, and any changes in that field: and will include any continuing education as needed.
  • Participates in fire and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Participates in required hospital and department in services and meetings. Follows safety and infection control policies.
  • Properly handles tools, materials, and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all patient health information seen or heard at any White River Health System facility.
  • Meet's WRMC attendance expectations as defined in the Personnel Policy/Procedure Manual.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

    High School diploma or GED

    Experience:
    • One-year experience in plant maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or related field.
    • Arkansas State Boiler License
    • Any required Licenses or Certificate for specific trade or related fields.
  • Job Knowledge:
    • Good problem solving and negotiating skills
    • Verbal ability to communicate with staff, patients, guest and management
    • Ability to comprehend a wide range of subjects.
    • Good organization skills
    • Ability to work from Arkansas Health Department, JACHO and OSHA standards and guidelines.
  • Essentials:
  • Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.
  • Physical Demands:
    Job responsibilities require a considerable amount of physical work. The individual will be required to assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing of carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment; and lifting or pushing of up to 50 pounds. Workday requires frequent walking, stooping, bending, climbing ladders and squatting up to eight (8) hours per day. Must be able to work in confined and enclosed spaces.

    Must possess good manual dexterity, must possess good visual acuity and not be colorblind. Daily exposure to extreme heat and/or cold environment with humidity and high noise levels. The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. A significant amount of writing and computer entry is required.
