About the RoleAs Custodian, you'll perform a variety of custodial and building maintenance duties, including cleaning and sanitizing City facilities, operating cleaning equipment, stocking supplies, monitoring building conditions, and assisting with grounds maintenance and snow removal. You'll also help support meetings, programs, and recreational activities held outside regular business hours. Your work will have a visible and meaningful impact on the community every day.
WhoWe're Looking For
We're seeking someone who takes pride in their work, works well independently, and is committed to maintaining safe and attractive public spaces. The ideal candidate follows safety procedures, uses cleaning tools and chemicals responsibly, notices maintenance and safety concerns, and interacts professionally with coworkers and the public. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Custodial experience is preferred, but equivalent training and experience will be considered.
Candidates must be able to pass a background check.
This full-time, non-union position offers a starting wage of $19.15-$24.88 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. The anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Benefits include generous paid leave, MainePERS retirement, wellness programs, and health, dental, and disability insurance options.
