Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician Helper assists the Facilities Department with the daily maintenance, repair, inspection, and upkeep at the clinics.

The position helps ensure facilities remain safe, clean, functional, compliant, and ready for patient care. The Technician Helper will assist with preventive maintenance, minor repairs, equipment installation, inspections, work orders, and general facility operations.

Primary Responsibilities Standards of Operations

  • Practice a culture of safety to reduce or prevent risk of injury, claims, loss or liability by utilizing the Risk Management and Infection Control Plan.
  • Perform responsibilities with a high-quality standard to yield improved compliance, quality, and patient outcome measures by adhering to the Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Be present and ready for work as scheduled.
  • Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings and community events.
  • Work cohesively with team members.
General Duties
  • Meets daily with supervisor to discuss special needs, problems, and assignments.
  • Assist Facility Technicians with routine maintenance and repairs throughout medical, dental, administrative, and support facilities.
  • Perform basic repairs involving doors, locks, hinges, cabinets, walls, ceilings, flooring, plumbing fixtures, and other building components.
  • Assist with basic electrical work such as replacing lamps, switches, receptacles, ballasts/drivers, and other components when authorized and properly trained.
  • Assist with plumbing repairs including faucets, toilets, drains, traps, supply lines, and minor leaks.
  • Assist with HVAC preventive maintenance, including filter changes, cleaning, visual inspections, and reporting equipment problems.
  • Assemble, move, install, and secure furniture, shelving, medical equipment, dental equipment, and other facility items as directed.
  • Perform painting, patching, caulking, carpentry, and other general maintenance work.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Respond to assigned maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify unsafe conditions, equipment failures, leaks, damage, or other facility concerns and immediately report them to the Facility Technician or Director of Facilities.
  • Assist with inspections of emergency lighting, exit signs, doors, fire extinguishers, and other life-safety components as assigned.
  • Maintain maintenance shops, storage areas, tools, equipment, and supplies in a clean and organized condition.
  • Assist with receiving, loading, unloading, and transporting equipment and supplies between facilities.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for completed work orders, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Follow infection-control procedures when performing maintenance activities in patient-care areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct when working around patients, employees, visitors, and healthcare providers.
  • Follow all organizational safety policies, OSHA requirements, infection-prevention practices, and applicable healthcare facility procedures.
  • Assist with emergency response activities involving facility systems, water leaks, power failures, weather events, and other building-related emergencies.
  • Perform grounds and exterior maintenance duties when required.
  • Perform other facilities-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISES – N/ARequirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent OR four years of high school AND two years of related work experience OR three years of high school AND four years of related work experience OR two years of high school AND five years of related work experience with an established business organization.
  • For substitutions, the candidate must be able to pass a Reading Comprehension skills test and a Basic Computer Literacy test.
