Position Summary

CATS is seeking a Facilities & Transit Amenities Technician to help maintain our facilities, bus stops, shelters, grounds, and other public-facing transit amenities.

This hands-on position performs inspections, cleaning, groundskeeping, minor repairs, and general maintenance to help ensure CATS facilities and transit amenities are safe, clean, accessible, functional, and presentable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and maintain bus stops, shelters, benches, signage, facilities, grounds, and other assigned assets.
  • Clean bus stops, shelters, facilities, and surrounding areas, including removal of litter, trash, debris, vegetation, graffiti, and obstructions.
  • Perform minor repairs to signs, shelters, benches, fencing, fixtures, and other assigned assets.
  • Perform grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, planting, watering, and vegetation control.
  • Maintain landscaped areas, sidewalks, curbs, drainage areas, fencing, and other assigned property.
  • Identify and report damaged, unsafe, inaccessible, or unsanitary conditions.
  • Address minor hazards within assigned authority and report conditions requiring specialized repairs or additional resources.
  • Complete assigned inspections, work orders, preventive maintenance, and service requests.
  • Safely operate agency vehicles, hand and power tools, landscaping equipment, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Load, transport, and unload tools, materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate work records and provide photographs or other documentation as required.
  • Assist with special projects, facility preparation, weather-related response, and emergency work.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, employees, contractors, and members of the public.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or recognized equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in facilities maintenance, grounds maintenance, landscaping, property maintenance, construction, general maintenance, transit amenities, or a closely related field.
  • Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, landscaping equipment, or maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to identify maintenance, safety, cleanliness, accessibility, and repair concerns and perform minor repairs.
  • Ability to follow work orders, safety procedures, and written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to maintain accurate work records and use electronic or mobile work-order systems as required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet CATS requirements for operating agency vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience maintaining public facilities, transit facilities, bus stops, shelters, or other public-facing infrastructure.
  • Experience performing minor building, signage, shelter, fence, facility, or equipment repairs.
  • Experience with electronic work-order, inspection, or asset-management systems.
  • Relevant facilities maintenance, landscaping, construction, safety, pesticide/herbicide, or trade training or certification.
Working Conditions

This is an active, field-based position requiring frequent standing and walking and may include bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and operating maintenance equipment.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors throughout the CATS service area and may involve exposure to traffic, weather, noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, and uneven surfaces.

The employee may be required to work overtime, evenings, weekends, holidays, or outside regularly scheduled hours based on operational needs, weather conditions, special events, or emergencies.
