Housekeeper

In keeping with our Organization's goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve; the Housekeeper plays a critical role in providing superior customer service and housekeeping services to all Residents in the facility. The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining environmental and infection control standards by performing a variety of general cleaning tasks.

Housekeeping Assignment

  • Performs routine and scheduled cleaning and disinfecting of resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, hallways, dining areas, offices, activity areas, and other assigned areas.
  • Cleans and disinfects high-touch surfaces and other areas in accordance with facility cleaning schedules and infection prevention procedures.
  • Vacuums, sweeps, mops, dusts, and cleans floors, walls, furniture, fixtures, windows, and other surfaces as assigned.
  • Cleans and sanitizes resident and public restrooms, including toilets, sinks, fixtures, floors, and other surfaces.
  • Performs cleaning and disinfection of resident rooms following admissions, discharges, transfers, or as otherwise directed.
  • Follows established infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene, appropriate use of PPE, and procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Follows facility procedures for cleaning areas occupied by residents on transmission-based precautions.

Laundry Assignment

  • Collects, sorts, washes, dries, folds, and distributes resident and facility laundry according to established procedures.
  • Properly handles, transports, and stores soiled and clean linens to prevent contamination.
  • Operates commercial washers, dryers, irons, presses, and other laundry equipment safely and according to manufacturer and facility procedures.
  • Identifies and appropriately treats stains and sorts laundry according to fabric type, color, washing requirements, and facility procedures.
  • Folds, organizes, and delivers clean clothing, towels, linens, and other laundered items to appropriate resident rooms or storage areas.
  • Labels or otherwise identifies resident clothing and personal laundry in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Reports damaged, missing, or unidentifiable resident clothing or linens to the appropriate supervisor.

General Expectations

  • Maintains adequate supplies of clean linens, towels, blankets, and other laundry items throughout the facility.
  • Empties trash and properly disposes of waste in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Responds promptly to spills, accidents, visibly soiled areas, and other housekeeping or environmental cleaning needs.
  • Maintains housekeeping carts, laundry equipment, supply rooms, and work areas in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition.
  • Uses cleaning chemicals, laundry products, equipment, and supplies safely and according to manufacturer instructions. Cleans and properly stores housekeeping equipment and reports damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Handles and transports soiled materials and linens in accordance with facility infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Reports environmental hazards, maintenance concerns, damaged property, spills, unsafe conditions, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Takes appropriate precautions when cleaning areas occupied by residents on isolation or transmission-based precautions and follows facility procedures regarding PPE and cleaning practices.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
  • Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to the supervisor.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-services as requested. Attends in-service and education programs and attends continuing education required for maintenance of professional certification or licensure.
  • Answers and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in resident care areas
  • Reports all resident concerns to the appropriate department head.
  • Perform job duties while operating in compliance with federal and state laws/regulations, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other tasks as required.
  • Ability to work with residents who may have cognitive, behavioral, or physical impairments.
  • Ability to work in potentially stressful or emergency situations.
