Essential Job Functions
Responsible for the maintenance of public building facility; performs any and/or all of the following duties: sweeps, mops, waxes floors, vacuums carpets, dusts and polishes furniture, cleans windows, walls and water fountains; assists in arrangement of furniture; empties trash receptacles and ashtrays; cleans restrooms including mirrors, commodes and sinks; stocks supplies and reports necessary reorders to supervisor.

This position requires 100% on-site work. May be exposed to mechanical, toxic waste, electrical, fume/odor, dust/mites, and/or chemical hazards; possible skin irritation from strong cleaning solutions. Must be available to work approximately 29 hours a week or as needed.
KnowledgeKnowledge of the materials, techniques and methods used in building maintenance; knowledge of safe efficient use of equipment and materials used to maintain buildings.
Skills/AbilitiesSkilled in the operation and maintenance of custodial equipment such as, but not limited to floor scrubber, shampoo machine, floor waxer, vacuum etc., ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish effective working relationships with co‑workers and the public.
Physical RequirementsConstantly sees and hears; frequently walks, stands, stoops, pushes, pulls, drags and carries objects weighing up to 100 lbs., infrequently drives, climbs, kneels, sits, squats, writes by hand and holds objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
Education/ExperienceCompletion of eight (8) school grades supplemented with previous janitorial experience.
This position requires 100% on-site work. Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license with a good driving record. Other state valid driver’s license equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver’s license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
