Maintenance Supervisor

$85,000 - $90,000 | Bloomington, IN

Responsibilities
  • Support maintenance-related automation and controls for manufacturing operations to ensure reliable and efficient production.
  • Ensure timely completion of all preventive maintenance, repairs, and maintenance projects across the facility.
  • Review the operation of plant equipment and systems on an ongoing basis to minimize unplanned downtime, troubleshoot issues promptly, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish and maintain tracking systems for work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment using appropriate tools and systems such as CMMS.
  • Manage and supervise maintenance department technicians, providing clear direction, support, and oversight of daily activities.
  • Ensure maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated to execute the maintenance program safely, on time, and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Communicate regularly with maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to maintain strong two-way communication on maintenance issues, priorities, and performance.
  • Assist with hiring maintenance personnel, including participating in interviews and selection processes as needed.
  • Track, analyze, and improve key maintenance performance indicators such as asset utilization, maintenance costs, preventive maintenance compliance, and schedule compliance.
  • Direct, maintain, and enforce the safety program for the maintenance department, reviewing safety records and practices to uphold maximum safety standards for all maintenance technicians.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities and priorities with the Maintenance Manager to align resources and schedules with production needs.
  • Monitor usage and inventory levels of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment, initiating reordering when necessary to prevent shortages and delays.
  • Work with outside vendors and contractors on project work and contract work related to facility equipment, ensuring quality and timely completion.
  • Ensure all maintenance technicians are trained on the most current operating procedures and maintain accurate training records for all direct employees.
  • Support and follow all food safety-related policies and procedures in maintenance activities to protect product quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and automation performance.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of maintenance supervision experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong maintenance management and supervision capabilities, including directing and developing maintenance technicians.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, including 3-phase power, motors, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Extensive knowledge of hydraulic machinery and related systems.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical systems and troubleshooting mechanical equipment issues.
  • Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, with experience in Allen-Bradley platforms preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics for effective diagnostics and repairs.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history.
  • Demonstrated ability to track, analyze, and improve maintenance KPIs such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, and preventive maintenance compliance.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems in an automated manufacturing setting.
  • Commitment to following all food safety-related policies and procedures in maintenance operations.
