Part‑Time (up to 29.5 hours per week), 1st Shift, 6:00am - 2:30pm

Sundays Are Mandatory, Other Days Are Flexible

The starting pay range for this position is $14.40/hour - $18.46/hour. This position offers a Trainee Status
* at $13.98 per hour.

Summary

To support operations in the laundry facility and related Support Services while performing routine tasks on‑site and off‑site.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 8th grade education
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) meeting the minimum standards (no major traffic violations).

  • Experience in a commercial or institutional laundry, production, housekeeping, or similar field
After‑Hire Requirements

Successfully complete the NH State Safe Driving Training within the first 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities
  • Operates machinery appropriate to work area, such as washers and dryers, folders, or presses. Demonstrates knowledge for safe use of equipment, reports breakdowns and safety concerns to supervisor. Cleans and maintains all equipment used, makes simple repairs as directed. Cleans and sanitizes work area, patient, and non‑patient areas.
  • Responsible for the distribution and transport of linens driving to and from designated off‑site service areas on campus.
  • Maintains proper supply level for assigned area of responsibility. Replaces supplies and stocks work area with appropriate products and chemicals, informs supervisor when items require re‑ordering.
  • Performs a variety of laundry services tasks including sorting of soiled linen and clothing; separating food and fecal matter when present; checking for any personal items left in pockets; following procedures for return of valuables; washing and drying of soiled linen, counting, inventorying, marking, assembly, bagging, and folding of linen and clothing.
  • Removes contaminated and non‑contaminated waste from work area(s) and disposes of it in prescribed manner. Follows appropriate safety and/or health standards as defined by department procedures. Cleans by using dry mops, wet mops, vacuums, and brooms and sanitizes work area.
  • Answers telephones and gives or obtains information in response to routine questions from employees of other departments within the hospital.
  • Trains and mentors new personnel with particular emphasis on proper procedures and safety regulations. When requested, reports quantities of all work completed, and any staff related issues to supervisor.
  • May attend supervisory staff meetings to communicate departmental policies, procedures, standards, and issues to new employees. May assume temporary leadership of Support Services staff in the laundry area in the supervisor’s absence to maintain productivity and quality.
  • During and after normal shifts, responds to emergency situations when requested by administration.
Staff Workplace Safety Accountabilities
  • Performing accountabilities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Communicating with supervisors relating to workplace safety, i.e. ergonomics, body mechanics, environment, equipment, etc.
  • IMMEDIATELY reporting on the job injuries and accidents to supervisor.
  • Attending training programs or in‑services as appropriate.
